Snowflake’s research reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming workforces in Australia and New Zealand, leading to both job creation and losses, with a net gain in employment. A survey indicated that 74% of organizations reported job creation due to AI, while 50% faced job losses. In Australia specifically, 41% of organizations noted job creation, and 33% reported experiencing both outcomes.
The report highlights a significant reliance on generative AI tools, as 67% of workers admitted using non-approved applications, primarily due to slow corporate processes. McPherson, Snowflake’s regional VP, emphasized the need for organizations to adapt to evolving tools.
Data quality remains a challenge, with 55% of respondents citing it as an issue for AI implementation. The survey also illustrates a global trend of AI moving from pilot phases to production, with early adopters reporting substantial returns on investment. AI is expected to receive a growing share of technology budgets in the coming year.
