A group of 30 first-year BTech students from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has developed an innovative AI-based application named HeritageLens to enhance tourism in Lucknow. This app offers virtual tours of the city’s iconic Imambaras, providing visitors with a virtual guide to elevate their experience. HeritageLens allows users to access rich, multi-lingual historical narratives and contextual information about monuments such as Rumi Darwaza and The Residency. This QR-based mobile application delivers authentic stories, real-time prices, and dining options in both Hindi and English, even offline. The initiative aims to make Lucknow’s cultural heritage accessible to a global audience. Additionally, students have developed a sustainable waste management app inspired by popular delivery platforms, promoting environmental responsibility within the city. AKTU’s Centre of Advanced Studies emphasizes practical engineering applications, as showcased in the recent Kalam Udbhav training program.
