Amazon CEO Predicts AI Will Streamline Corporate Workforce Soon

admin

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has outlined an “agentic future” focused on AI-driven automation, indicating that the company plans to reduce its corporate workforce within the next few years by relying more on generative AI tools. In a recent memo, he noted that as AI technology advances, fewer employees will be required for certain roles, while new types of jobs will emerge. Despite employing around 1.5 million people globally, Jassy predicts efficiency gains through extensive AI use will ultimately shrink the workforce. Amazon has been significantly investing in generative AI since launching its Alexa virtual assistant in 2014. The company now has about 1,000 AI services in development, incorporating features like personalized shopping assistants that are already used by millions. Following the memo’s release, Amazon shares dropped slightly by 0.5%, reflecting investor concerns over the implications of these changes.
