Mukesh Ambani, India’s wealthiest individual and chairman of Reliance Industries, has announced a visionary initiative to establish India’s AI infrastructure via a new subsidiary called Reliance Intelligence. This venture, revealed during the company’s 48th annual general meeting, aims to bolster India’s position in the global AI landscape, traditionally led by the U.S. and China. Ambani disclosed partnerships with Google Cloud to develop a dedicated AI cloud infrastructure, starting with a data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Additionally, Reliance has teamed with Meta to create AI solutions targeting various sectors, enjoying a ₹8.55 billion ($100 million) investment split. These collaborations will facilitate the deployment of generative AI models and services for businesses and government entities across India. As Reliance expands internationally, it also pursues potential alignment with OpenAI, enhancing its commitment to innovative AI technologies.
