Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is poised to release its fiscal Q3 earnings, following significant AI chip deals with OpenAI and Oracle. Last month, AMD agreed to supply OpenAI with up to 6GW of GPUs, leading to a purchase of around 160 million shares of AMD stock. Additionally, a partnership with Oracle involves deploying up to 50,000 GPUs in Oracle’s data centers. Despite a recent stock surge of 56%, bringing its total rise to 113% for the year, AMD still lags behind Nvidia in the AI sector. Analysts project AMD will report earnings per share (EPS) of $1.17 and revenue of $8.7 billion for Q3, driven by robust CPU sales across data centers and client sectors, alongside a significant contribution from gaming. The new MI450 GPUs, set for deployment in 2026, are seen as crucial for AMD’s long-term growth, though uncertainty remains regarding competition with Nvidia.
