Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 Introduces Fresh Gemini Launch Animation

Google is currently testing a new launch animation for the Gemini overlay with the release of Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2. Users have noticed a lack of vibration when using the “Press & hold power button” gesture to activate Gemini, implied to be a bug affecting the Digital assistant feature while haptic feedback for the Power menu remains intact. However, in this A/B test, some users have reported the return of vibration when Gemini is activated. The new animation features a shrinking effect on the current screen, followed by the Gemini overlay sliding up with its usual options, creating a visually appealing experience. Although this animation is not widely rolled out, it shows a smoother transition compared to previous iterations. Additionally, Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 is testing a redesigned Pixel Launcher search field with an AI Mode, although its visibility has varied across devices.
