Android 16 QPR1 Unveils Enhanced Pixel Launcher Search and Gemini Launch Features

Google has introduced a revamped Pixel Launcher search bar for Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 users in the US, alongside a new Gemini launch animation for all users. The redesigned search bar now resembles the Google app’s Search widget, incorporating a circular AI Mode button while the previous features, like the gradient ‘G’ logo and Google Lens shortcut, are reduced in size and moved to the left. Currently, customization options for the search bar remain limited, particularly for users outside the US who still see the traditional design. The new Gemini animation activates upon a long-press on the power button, featuring an effect where the screen shrinks with black borders before returning to normal as the Gemini overlay appears, accompanied by vibration feedback. These changes are being rolled out as server-side updates.
