Anthropic’s Claude Code now integrates “channels,” enabling seamless communication through messages, notifications, and webhooks within an active session. This feature allows Claude to react to events—such as CI results, chat messages, and monitoring alerts—even when the user is offline. Operated via MCP servers, channels enable two-way communication where Claude can read and respond through the same medium. Currently, the research preview supports popular platforms like Telegram and Discord, with options for developers to create custom channels. To utilize this feature, users must have Claude Code version 2.1.80 or later and a claude.ai login; API keys are not supported. Additionally, organizations in Teams and Enterprise plans need to enable channels explicitly. For complete information, refer to the official documentation.
