Anthropic Introduces Claude Memory Feature for Free Users and Launches Tool for Importing Rival AI Data

AI startup Anthropic has enhanced its chatbot Claude by allowing free-tier users to access past conversations for more personalized responses. This memory feature, first introduced in August, enables Claude to tailor its answers based on previous interactions, fostering more context-aware conversations. Recently, Anthropic launched a tool to help users transfer their chat history from competing AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot. This tool generates prompts that allow users to import contextual data into Claude, enhancing continuity in conversations. Users can view and manage what Claude has learned about them, although the memory system is primarily designed for workplace collaboration, limiting the retention of non-professional information. This update has contributed to Claude’s rise to the top of the U.S. Apple App Store’s free app rankings, highlighting the competitive landscape in generative AI as companies seek wider consumer adoption.
