Anthropic has overtaken OpenAI in enterprise large language model (LLM) usage, capturing 32% market share, as reported by Menlo Ventures. The shift reflects a growing preference for reliability and specialization in business applications, particularly following the releases of Claude 3.5 and 3.7, which improved long-context comprehension and reduced errors. Anthropic now holds a 42% market share in enterprise coding tasks, compared to OpenAI’s 21%. While OpenAI remains dominant in consumer AI, Anthropic’s focus on “Constitutional AI” is generating higher enterprise revenue per user, accounting for about 40% of OpenAI’s annual revenue with a smaller user base. Additionally, the trend towards closed-source AI is clear, with only 13% of enterprise workloads using open-source models as organizations prioritize security and support. This data emphasizes the significance of performance and dependability in the enterprise AI landscape as businesses seek trustworthy solutions for mission-critical tasks.
