Apple Could Enhance Next-Gen Siri with Google’s Gemini AI Technology

Apple is currently testing two iterations of Siri: one utilizing its own AI models and the other leveraging Google’s Gemini technology. Reports indicate that Apple’s in-house model has not met performance expectations, necessitating this collaboration with Google. At the WWDC 2024 event, Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence, highlighting features like Genmoji, AI writing tools, and integration with ChatGPT. However, the full relaunch of Siri, initially anticipated in the iOS 18 update, has been postponed as Apple works on enhancing Siri’s reliability and contextual understanding. Additionally, Google’s Gemini significantly enhances Siri by offering improved context awareness, multitasking, and third-party app integration. By managing Siri’s query planning and response summarization, Gemini also supports enhanced knowledge search. Importantly, all features will operate on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, aligning with the company’s commitment to a privacy-first approach. This ongoing development underscores Apple’s ambition to regain the lead in personal assistant technology amidst rising AI competition.
