Apple Could Soon Integrate Gemini and ChatGPT for Voice Control in CarPlay

Apple is expanding its AI foundations across its product lineup, largely responding to the slow evolution of Siri. Recently, the company announced plans to integrate AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini into the next-generation Siri. A key development involves CarPlay, which will soon allow third-party AI models, marking a significant shift from Siri being the only digital assistant. This change will enable the likes of OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google to introduce CarPlay versions of their apps with voice-control features. Despite partnerships with these AI providers, the integration has taken longer than expected. Currently, CarPlay Ultra has limited partnerships, mainly with Aston Martin, with potential expansions to Hyundai and Kia in the future. Unlike Android Auto’s Gemini integration, Apple retains control by not allowing users to replace Siri as the default assistant, meaning alternate AIs will function only via dedicated apps without full system integration.
