Apple Developing ChatGPT-like App to Compete with Google Gemini, Reports Indicate

Apple is set to unveil a revamped version of Siri, aiming to rival Google Gemini in the AI voice assistant space. This significant update, internally codenamed “Veritas,” is designed to allow Siri to handle complex, real-time conversations—similar to capabilities found in ChatGPT. Presently, Apple relies on OpenAI for certain AI functions, but the new Siri will utilize its own large language model, enhancing its performance without third-party dependencies.

Anticipated for release with the iPhone 18 series next year, initial versions may be limited to internal testing. Apple is committed to advancing Siri’s technology, enabling it to manage multiple conversations and respond to follow-up queries. The upgrade will be tested under the codename “Linwood,” with a potential public launch at the WWDC in May. Overall, these improvements represent Apple’s strategic move to strengthen its position in the competitive AI landscape.
