Apple is intensifying its scrutiny of vibe-coded apps, recently removing the app “Anythng” from the App Store due to violations of its App Review Guidelines. On March 26, the app was yanked after Apple had blocked its updates since December. This action affects other vibe-coding apps, such as Replit and Vibecoding, as Apple enforces a longstanding iOS rule that prohibits apps from executing code that alters their functionality. According to Apple, the issue stems from breaches of specific guidelines, including Section 2.5.2, which states that apps must remain self-contained in their bundles. Efforts by Anything’s developers to create a workaround by previewing apps in a web browser were rejected. Despite this setback, the app was a promising sensation in the AI-assisted app development space, raising $11 million and boasting a $100 million valuation. Vibe coding allows users with minimal coding skills to create apps via natural language prompts with AI.
