Apple to Integrate Google’s Gemini AI for Next-Gen Siri Redesign

Apple is set to enhance Siri by integrating Google’s advanced Gemini AI model, as it strives to advance in the competitive AI landscape. Reportedly, Apple will invest approximately $1 billion annually for access to Google’s 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini model, finalizing this crucial partnership. Apple has explored various large language models, ultimately selecting Gemini for its next-generation Siri, internally known as Linwood, which is expected to launch with iOS 26.4 in Spring 2026. This updated Siri will leverage Gemini for functions like task planning and summarization, while other capabilities will still utilize Apple’s in-house models, ensuring data security through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers. Key executives, Mike Rockwell and Craig Federighi, are steering this project, marking a significant shift in Apple’s AI strategy. In the long run, Apple aims to develop its own comparable AI models, potentially rolling them out as early as next year.
