Apple is forming a new team named Answers, Knowledge and Information (AKI) to develop a ChatGPT-style AI app, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This initiative aims to create an “answer engine” that leverages web-based information for question responses. Apple is also considering a standalone app and enhancing back-end infrastructure to improve search capabilities in Siri, Spotlight, and Safari. Previously hesitant to enter the AI chatbot space due to perceived low consumer demand, Apple collaborated with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri, offering users access to invaluable “world knowledge.” However, Apple’s current AI system lacks effective search features, indicating a potential disadvantage in the competitive AI market. Following recent hiring efforts for the AKI team, Tim Cook expressed the company’s commitment to seizing the AI revolution. With a third-quarter revenue of $94.04 billion and a net profit of $23.4 billion, Apple is poised to innovate aggressively in AI technology.
