ASCI Gears Up for the Next Generation of AI in Advertising: Insights from Manisha Kapoor on Generative Content and Targeting Algorithms

In 2025, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), led by CEO Manisha Kapoor, tackled the dynamic landscape of advertising regulation amidst the rise of AI-driven marketing and intricate digital ecosystems. ASCI enhanced its monitoring systems, formed partnerships with digital platforms, and improved AI ad scanning capabilities, managing a record number of complaints effectively. A key focus was regulating betting and gambling advertisements, protecting consumers from misleading claims. The influencer marketing space also saw increased scrutiny, with a notable rise in undisclosed paid collaborations, prompting ASCI to prioritize transparency and authenticity. The newly launched Commitment Seal promotes high standards in advertising, fostering consumer trust. Additionally, ASCI’s AdWise program aims to educate 1 million children about advertising literacy by 2026. Collaborating with the National Law School of India, ASCI established an Ad Regulation Forum for informed discussions on consumer law, ensuring innovation in advertising aligns with consumer trust.
