The emergence of vibe coding, powered by advanced AI like GPT-5, promises a future where programming knowledge is unnecessary for software creation. Users will simply communicate ideas in plain English, while AI handles coding and debugging. This concept aims for “software on demand,” allowing any app or website to be created instantly. Testing various AI services, including GPT-5, Claude 4.1 Opus, and Grok 4, I evaluated their capabilities by having them develop a web game, productivity app, and iOS app. Results showed that Claude excelled aesthetically, particularly in game design, while ChatGPT outperformed in functionality across productivity apps. Although Claude successfully generated an iOS app, it lacked advanced features. Overall, both ChatGPT and Claude are recommended for beginners looking to create web-based applications, while Grok offers basic options. As AI capabilities evolve, we edge closer to effortless software creation, though complete perfection remains a work in progress.
