Microsoft’s Copilot AI is designed to enhance productivity, but not all users are maximizing its potential. In response, Microsoft has introduced Benchmarks in the Copilot Dashboard through Viva Insights, aimed at tracking AI adoption rates within organizations. This feature allows managers to compare internal Copilot usage with external benchmarks against similar companies, revealing insights on employee engagement with AI tools.
While the internal benchmark system gathers data on active users and adoption rates across various applications, the external comparison utilizes anonymized data from at least 20 peer organizations. This raises privacy concerns, but Microsoft employs randomized models to mitigate risks.
Despite AI’s growing presence, employee adoption remains slow, with studies indicating only 5% of AI initiatives succeed beyond initial trials. As companies strive to stay competitive, integrating features like Benchmarks could incentivize greater AI usage, although some employees may feel anxious about being monitored.
