The Office of Information Technology at Boise State University has launched boisestate.ai, a secure generative AI platform designed to support teaching, learning, and work for students, faculty, and staff. This platform, built on Amazon Web Services, offers powerful AI tools including Claude, LLaMA, and Nova. Users can access applications tailored for research, creative tasks, course design, and administrative processes. Key features include custom “Assistants,” secure chat sharing, integration with Semantic Scholar, and FERPA compliance. Developed from an open-source foundation, boisestate.ai was refined during a pilot phase with nearly 200 participants providing valuable feedback. Boise State’s platform ensures cost-effective access for the entire campus community, avoiding potential $7 million annual expenses of commercial AI subscriptions. Users can start utilizing boisestate.ai immediately by signing in with their Boise State credentials and accessing available playbooks for guidance.
