In a firm statement, CAA emphasized its commitment to protecting client rights, warning that new technologies like Sora 2 pose significant risks to creators and businesses alike. The agency criticized OpenAI for seemingly disregarding global copyright principles, insisting that control and compensation for the use of IP are fundamental rights. Despite OpenAI’s opt-out policy for rights holders, CAA highlighted the shaky legal ground, noting that copyright infringement lawsuits can still occur. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman mentioned upcoming updates for better copyright control, but no guarantees were made regarding the removal of infringing material. This response follows similar actions from the Motion Picture Association and major studios like Disney and Warner Bros., which have pursued legal action against AI platforms for unauthorized content use.
