The Convenience Foodservice Vision Group’s (CFVG) latest report, “Embracing AI to Elevate Foodservice,” explores essential AI applications and transformative strategies for convenience stores and foodservice operations. The virtual meeting, led by Richard Poye, featured insights from Upshop’s Mike Weber and Steve Brask. Key findings emphasize the importance of demystifying AI, showcasing its role in optimizing daily decisions and preventing waste by utilizing demand forecasting from POS data and external variables like weather. Successful AI implementation requires robust historical sales data and a focus on change management to foster employee adoption. Existing staff may need training and support to adjust to new systems, overcoming resistance from long-tenured employees. The report highlights that while AI can initiate demand forecasting within 14 days, optimal results take six to nine months. Ultimately, AI offers a pathway to unify business processes and revolutionize foodservice operations.
