Over the past 15 years, medical school applicants have increasingly turned to artificial intelligence (AI) for support during the overwhelming application process. A recent survey by Inspira Advantage revealed that nearly 60% of pre-med students experience chronic stress, with many open to using AI for mental health support. Over half of respondents believe AI tools enhance their mental well-being—not only in admissions preparation but also within healthcare itself. While students appreciate AI’s assistance, many also recognize the importance of understanding its limitations. Crucially, nearly two-thirds acknowledged that future physicians must be educated on the risks of AI. Medical schools need to integrate AI literacy early on and develop ethical usage policies to prepare students for a healthcare landscape where patients may rely heavily on AI. By balancing AI support with essential human-centric mental health services, educational institutions can cultivate well-rounded future doctors capable of navigating both technology and patient care effectively.
