According to a report by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), ChatGPT remains the leader in the global AI market, but competitors are closing in. Analyzing Similarweb and Sensor Tower data reveals ChatGPT significantly outperformed rivals with 5.72 billion monthly website visits and a broad user base. Google’s Gemini ranks second, capturing about 12% of ChatGPT’s traffic but has shown rapid growth, with visits rising from 284 million in February to 700 million by July. Interestingly, Gemini reached nearly half of ChatGPT’s mobile active users. Other Google tools also made top rankings. Meanwhile, China’s DeepSeek and Grok, launched by Elon Musk, saw significant user increases, particularly Grok, which surged by 40% after its July update. Meta’s AI struggles, only ranking 46th, while several Chinese apps dominate mobile AI rankings. Notably, 22 of the top 50 apps globally hail from China, indicating a robust rise in mobile-focused AI innovations.
