Driven by large language models, agentic AI enhances research capabilities by simulating experiments and generating hypotheses. Companies like Matlantis are introducing platforms that enable non-experts to conduct complex simulations easily. However, experts like Marc Feldmann and Daisuke Okanohara emphasize that while agentic AI is a powerful tool, it won’t replace human chemists soon due to limitations in physical experimentation and data management challenges.
