Chief Secretary Advocates for AI Solutions to Combat Drug Epidemic

In a crucial effort to combat narcotics trafficking and substance abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo led the 15th Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) meeting. Key officials, including the Director General of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police, participated to assess progress and enhance collaboration among law enforcement and health sectors. The Chief Secretary emphasized strengthening legal frameworks to improve conviction rates under the NDPS Act, mandating the development of an AI-enabled system for efficient charge sheet preparation. He urged that all bails granted in significant cases be challenged promptly while calling for the formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for investigators. Attention was drawn to keeping educational institutions drug-free, reinforcing the monitoring of medicines for de-addiction. The meeting reported extensive data on ongoing cases, emphasizing zero tolerance against narcotics. Enhancements in de-addiction facilities and sustained public awareness efforts are vital for securing a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
