The Nigeria AI Collective and the Centre for JournalismInnovation and Development (CJID) are excited to launch the AI in Journalism Incubator – Second Cohort, aiming to unite technologists and media professionals in West Africa. This initiative encourages the co-creation of AI-powered tools to overcome significant journalism and media accountability challenges. Following the success of the first cohort, participants will collaborate in teams, guided by expert mentors, to develop and showcase prototypes at the 2025 Media and Development Conference (MDC 2025) in Abuja. Each team benefits from dedicated mentorship, technical resources, and seed grants for product scaling. Eligibility includes AI/ML developers, software engineers, journalists, and media researchers. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in relevant fields, a strong commitment to technology in media, and problem-solving abilities. The program runs from September to November 2025, featuring weekly mentor check-ins and culminating in a final showcase.
