Cloudflare has launched Moltworker, an open-source tool designed for deploying Moltbot, a self-hosted personal AI assistant, on Cloudflare’s Developer Platform. This innovation eliminates the requirement for dedicated local hardware, allowing seamless integration with various AI models and third-party applications. Moltworker operates by combining an entrypoint Worker as an API router with isolated Sandboxes for executing Moltbot’s runtime and integrations. It stores conversation memory and session data in Cloudflare R2 to counter container limitations. The release takes advantage of enhanced Node.js compatibility, enabling more npm packages to function without modifications. Additionally, it utilizes Cloudflare services like AI Gateway for AI requests and Browser Rendering for automation tasks—optimizing performance and accessibility.
