Critics assert that OpenAI’s backing of the initiative could undermine legislative efforts to enhance AI regulations. The coalition emphasizes that it’s vital for independent policymakers, not tech companies, to shape safety regulations for AI technologies, urging OpenAI to step back and allow lawmakers to craft meaningful protections. OpenAI has yet to respond to these concerns.
