Antoinette Banks, a cognitive scientist, is redefining education for families with children who have disabilities through her initiative, Expert IEP. After her daughter was diagnosed with autism, Banks rejected a disheartening prognosis and pursued knowledge in cognitive science. This led her to create an AI-powered platform that optimizes Individual Education Programs (IEPs), which are crucial for children with disabilities. With 77% of IEPs presented in inaccessible formats, Banks’ solution fosters collaboration between families and schools, particularly addressing the disparities faced by Black and brown families. Expert IEP has already improved academic performance and increased parental confidence by 30%. With over 1,800 families served and more than 2,300 IEPs reviewed, the platform offers tiered subscription services, including a free diagnosis upload for families. Banks has also secured $1.7 million in funding to expand this impactful tool, aiming to empower families and improve educational outcomes. Available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, Expert IEP promises a brighter future for students with disabilities.
