A study by Brightedge in July 2025 analyzed the responses of ChatGPT and Google AI Mode to thousands of prompts across four industries: finance, healthcare, B2B technology, and education. The research revealed that while both AI tools provided similar responses for comparison-related prompts, they diverged significantly when tasked with action-oriented queries. In particular, ChatGPT functioned as a “trusted coach,” delivering tools and applications, whereas Google AI Mode acted as a “research assistant,” providing guides and articles. For instance, when asked about retirement planning resources, ChatGPT recommended tools and calculators, while Google AI Mode suggested topics for further research. This differentiation underscores the unique roles each AI plays in responding to industry-specific queries, emphasizing their distinct capabilities and synergies in information delivery. Understanding these differences can aid users in selecting the appropriate AI for their specific needs, enhancing their overall experience across various industries.
