Consumers Are Turning to AI Chatbots for More Than Just Tech Queries, New Data Reveals

Share

The usage of AI chatbots is evolving rapidly. A year ago, most prompts focused on coding and software development, which constituted 44% of user interactions. By early 2025, this figure plummeted to 29%. Users are now increasingly engaging with topics like personal finance, economics, entertainment, history, and education. Notably, inquiries about finances have surged, growing from 4% to 13%, indicating a heightened interest in areas such as budgeting and economic concepts. Interest in entertainment and educational queries has also increased. Meanwhile, prompts regarding AI and machine learning have slightly decreased from 15% to 14%, suggesting users are more interested in practical applications rather than theoretical aspects of AI. This trend indicates that chatbots are transitioning into everyday tools for personal inquiries and interests, reflecting users’ needs and confusion. For businesses, this evolving prompt data could provide valuable insights into emerging trends and customer interests.
