The Cornell Health AI Hackathon, held from March 6-8 in NYC, brought together over 100 students from Cornell and 17 other universities to tackle health care challenges using artificial intelligence. Organized by Entrepreneurship at Cornell in partnership with the Weill Cornell Medicine’s Englander Institute and Cornell Tech, the event featured interdisciplinary teams from medicine, engineering, and business. Over 36 hours, participants created innovative prototypes designed to enhance health care delivery.
Key awards included the $2,000 grand prize for Team Spiny Senses for their SpineSight XR system, which modernizes scoliosis screening with AI-assisted imaging, and the $1,000 Greatest Impact prize for Scrub XR, enhancing surgical safety through real-time instrument tracking. The hackathon highlighted the transformative potential of AI in speeding up development and focusing on real-world clinical problems, supporting the evolution of early-stage prototypes into viable solutions post-event, reinforcing the importance of health innovation.
