The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is launching an extensive modernization initiative utilizing Salesforce’s AI platform, Agentforce. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the transportation system by automating operational tasks and providing 24/7 customer support. Agentforce will streamline grant applications, ensure compliance, and draft recommendations, significantly simplifying the management of federal grants. Pavan Pidugu, DOT’s Chief Information Officer, emphasized that integrating AI into core operations will empower the agency to work more effectively while ensuring the safety of the transportation system. Additionally, the modernization effort will consolidate over 10 legacy systems into a unified grant platform, improving application reviews and infrastructure funding distribution. With this strategic shift, DOT aims to eliminate duplicated systems and administrative overload, enhancing operational speed for critical transportation projects.
