Doubao AI Phone Encounters App Compatibility Challenges Post-Launch

On December 6, the newly launched “Doubao Assistant” smartphone, a collaboration between ByteDance’s Doubao AI and ZTE, faces significant compatibility issues with major third-party applications. Following reports of WeChat access problems, several Alibaba-owned apps—such as Taobao, Idle Fish, and Damai—are now blocking login attempts from this device. Manual access triggers security mechanisms that result in login failures.

The compatibility problems are not limited to e-commerce; banking apps like Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank have ramped up security against AI assistants, warning users to disable Doubao AI to proceed. Many gaming apps, including Honor of Kings, also detect AI control attempts, limiting users to manual launches.

This situation underscores the complexities of AI-integrated hardware within established mobile ecosystems, as platform operators enforce stricter security measures and access controls to address these emerging challenges.
