Emergent Unveils AI Assistant ‘Wingman’ to Transform Coding Startups

Emergent, a SoftBank-backed coding startup, has introduced Wingman, an autonomous agent designed to streamline routine tasks in popular work tools, enhancing productivity through AI-driven automation. “Most people aren’t failing at productivity; they are overwhelmed by constant smaller tasks,” said CEO Mukund Jha. Wingman enables users to deploy multiple agents for diverse functions like scheduling, social media management, and sales support, competing with platforms like OpenClaw and Nanobot. Emergent recently reached a significant milestone with a $100 million annualized revenue run rate (ARR) shortly after securing $70 million in funding. Amid scrutiny over its revenue reporting, Emergent emphasizes Wingman’s unique functionality, automating low-stakes tasks while requiring user confirmation for more critical actions. This design allows Wingman to learn user preferences over time, positioning it within the growing trend towards agentic AI systems that manage workflows independently, reflecting a shift in workplace automation strategies.
