The University of Mysore (UoM) hosted a two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Research Tools, organized by the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) and Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) on December 22. Prof. D.S. Guru emphasized the vital role of AI in enhancing research efficiency without replacing researchers. He cautioned that most AI tools are still evolving and urged scholars to critically evaluate AI-generated data. Chief guest Prof. H.P. Jyothi reflected on her Ph.D. experience before AI, praising today’s researchers for their access to transformative AI tools. She warned, however, that AI cannot substitute for human intellect and critical thinking. The workshop aimed to familiarize research scholars with emerging AI technologies, bridging the gap between traditional research methods and innovative tools. Prof. M.S. Sapna underscored the importance of integrating technology into research while acknowledging ongoing reliance on human insight and expertise.
