Engage with the Statues of Versailles Using OpenAI Technology

At the Palace of Versailles, visitors can now interact with 12 ornate statues in the gardens through a new AI-powered chatbot, developed in partnership with OpenAI and Ask Mona. By scanning QR codes near the sculptures, users can engage in audio conversations that reveal historical details and insights about the artworks. One visitor tested the chatbot by conversing with the Apollo and Neptune Fountains, receiving elaborate descriptions and factual information. However, the chatbots lacked personality and humor, often making conversations feel one-sided. For instance, when asked to tell a joke, the Apollo Fountain chatbot emphasized its serious role instead. While informative, the AI tool also faced technical glitches, leading to frustration at times. Overall, this innovative approach enhances the visitor experience, serving as a modern alternative to traditional audio guides. The Palace has yet to respond to feedback concerning the initiative.
