Enhancing Blood Pressure Monitoring for Seniors: The Impact of AI Voice Agents on Accuracy and Health Outcomes

PrePreliminary research presented at the American Heart Association’s Hypertension Scientific Sessions 2025 reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) voice agents significantly enhance blood pressure monitoring and improve health outcomes for older adults with hypertension. The study, involving 2,000 participants primarily aged 65 and above, showed that AI integration into clinical workflows increased home blood pressure monitoring completion rates. Using voice-enabled technology in multiple languages, the AI system encouraged accurate self-reporting of blood pressure readings and identified patients needing follow-up care.

The process reduced clinician manual workload, achieving an 88.7% lower cost-per-reading compared to human nurses. Notably, 85% of patients engaged with the AI, with 60% delivering compliant readings. The initiative successfully closed 1,939 care gaps, significantly elevating performance ratings in Medicare Advantage programs. Satisfaction ratings exceeded 9 out of 10, underscoring the effectiveness of patient engagement. While promising, the study’s limitations warrant further peer review for comprehensive insights into AI applications in hypertension management.
