AI applications, such as document drafting and case management, are increasing, yet half of judges abstain from professional use. The integration of AI in the judiciary is categorized into clerical assistive systems, recommendation systems, and semi-decision-making systems. Challenges include potential biases, privacy concerns, and a risk of legal stasis, where AI may stagnate legal evolution. Conversely, opportunities exist for improving efficiency, accuracy, and access to justice, particularly through administrative task automation and enhanced case management. However, judicial independence is paramount; judges must verify AI outputs to mitigate risks associated with misinformation and overreliance. Ultimately, maintaining transparency and public trust is essential in integrating AI responsibly within the judiciary.
