Matthew Karabinos, a 6th-grade teacher, emphasized that teachers don’t need advanced tech skills to utilize AI effectively; they just need to frame specific requests. AI can automate routine tasks, allowing teachers more time to engage with students. Heather Hill, a professor at Harvard, is exploring how AI can provide teachers with feedback on their lessons and help preservice teachers practice in simulated environments. Janel Vancas from Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 reiterated that AI should support, not replace, teachers. As students increasingly use AI, educators aim to teach them critical evaluation skills, ensuring they engage with AI as a tool rather than a crutch. Embracing AI can refine math curricula and bolster professional development for educators.
