University of Iowa Health Care has notably enhanced clinician satisfaction with its Electronic Health Records (EHR) by implementing two AI-driven solutions: Evidently and Nabla. Evidently aggregates and summarizes internal and external patient data, while Nabla serves as an ambient scribe tool for efficient note generation. Dr. Jason Misurac, an associate chief health information officer, highlighted the institution’s need for these innovations following the KLAS Arch Collaborative study, which revealed issues with external data integration—a common challenge for a referral center. The integration allows real-time data access directly within the Epic workflow, saving clinicians time and improving patient insights. Notably, both AI tools have positively impacted clinician satisfaction scores in recent surveys. Future initiatives include enhancing documentation processes for better billing accuracy and utilizing Evidently to identify research candidates. Overall, these advancements demonstrate the critical role of AI in enhancing healthcare efficiency and clinician experience.
