Tartu-based startup Better Medicine has successfully raised €1 million in a pre-Seed funding round to enhance its AI-powered diagnostic tools for radiology. Led by Soulmates Ventures, this funding, after a €2.5 million EIC grant, brings Better Medicine’s total funding to nearly €6 million. Founded in 2020, the company is poised for European expansion and U.S. market entry, leveraging partnerships with health institutions like the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Their BMVision platform aids radiologists by automating lesion detection in kidney scans, achieving a remarkable 99.2% accuracy and 52% time savings. With CE certification as the first AI-based kidney cancer detection tool compliant with EU regulations, Better Medicine addresses the pressing need for efficient oncology diagnostics amid a global shortage of radiologists. The new investment will fuel commercial rollout across Europe and product diversification, while aiming for FDA clearance and demonstrating cost-efficiency to insurance providers.
