The original deadline for the Code of Practice, particularly for large language models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, was set for May 2. Although signing up for the code is voluntary, companies opting out will miss out on the legal protections it offers. The Commission emphasized its commitment to enforcing the AI Act and maintaining harmonized, risk-based regulations across the EU, insisting that the rollout will proceed as planned despite requests for delay.
