EU Indicates AI Guidelines for Companies Expected by End of 2025

Share

The European Commission announced that the Code of Practice aimed at aiding compliance with the EU’s Artificial Intelligence Act may be issued by the end of 2025, potentially delaying its release by over six months. Major companies, including Google and Meta, and some EU nations have requested a postponement due to the absence of this guiding framework. The original deadline for the Code of Practice, particularly for large language models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, was set for May 2. Although signing up for the code is voluntary, companies opting out will miss out on the legal protections it offers. The Commission emphasized its commitment to enforcing the AI Act and maintaining harmonized, risk-based regulations across the EU, insisting that the rollout will proceed as planned despite requests for delay.
