A coalition of over 100 humanitarian and child protection organizations, including Amnesty International and Save the Children, is urgently calling for action against AI nudification apps. This movement emerged after the backlash against Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, which was used to create non-consensual nude images of women, leading to concerns about child safety and human dignity. The trend, initially harmless, quickly escalated into the production of illegal sexual images, often linked to blackmail and coercion. Advocates argue that these nudification tools pose a severe threat, especially to children. Marija Manojlovic from Safe Online stated, “AI technology should enhance human potential, not harm it.” The coalition emphasizes the need for tech companies to implement effective measures against such harmful content and is pushing for a ban on these technologies. The call for accountability arises from the urgent need to protect children and uphold ethical standards within the digital environment.
