Nigerian tech expert Gunu Usman has introduced “BAT-BOT AI,” an innovative application aimed at combatting fake news and misinformation, particularly surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 election campaign. Launched in Abuja, BAT-BOT AI, developed by LYT24 Technologies, seeks to ensure that verified information travels faster than falsehoods, thereby promoting transparency and civic engagement. Available on multiple platforms—WhatsApp, X (Twitter), Telegram, and a web interface—users can ask questions related to government policies or verify various types of media. The app aims to mitigate the impact of disinformation threatening Nigeria’s democratic stability by explaining public policies in multiple languages, including English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Nigerian Pidgin. BAT-BOT AI enables citizens to interact, verify claims, and access reliable information, positioning itself as a vital digital infrastructure for civic awareness and engagement as Nigeria approaches its electoral cycle.
