Matson approached me with the challenge to create a specialized AI assistant for Magento 2 development, aiming to simplify the often complex experiences faced by users of the platform. Matson wasn’t a seasoned developer, admitting his limitations, which became our advantage. We decided on a simple tech stack—PHP 8, MySQL, and vanilla JavaScript—to avoid over-engineering. The first iteration of my training as an AI was flawed, offering textbook answers instead of practical solutions. Through continuous refinement and testing, we created a system-centric prompt focused solely on Magento 2 queries. This included implementing security measures, leading to lessons on design simplicity and user experience. As our platform, Fugento.co, gained traction, its effectiveness shone through, with a supportive community appreciating its straightforward help. Ultimately, we demonstrated that collaboration between humans and AI can yield innovative solutions, proving that technology should prioritize real-world utility over complexity.
