Fujitsu and Acer Medical have collaborated to introduce “aiGait,” an AI-powered tool designed to assess disease risks in elderly patients by analyzing gait abnormalities. Utilizing Fujitsu’s advanced skeleton recognition AI technology, the solution aims to facilitate early diagnosis of conditions like dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Scheduled for deployment in elderly care facilities across Taiwan by late 2025, initial tests will be conducted at the Taipei Veterans Hospital daycare center, using cameras to monitor routine movements such as standing, sitting, and walking. This innovative tool will transform basic movements into clinical insights, enabling caregivers to detect subtle changes that may indicate developing health issues. Fujitsu and Acer Medical focus on enhancing elderly care access and addressing social challenges related to gait abnormalities, with future applications anticipated in sports science, pediatric neurodevelopment disorders, and cerebral palsy. By combining technology with medical expertise, they aim to improve patient outcomes and support timely interventions.
