Google recently launched the Gemini app for Wear OS smartwatches, initially debuting with the Galaxy Watch 8 series. The rollout has now extended to older Galaxy Watches, though the app operates exclusively on One UI 8 Watch. Available on the Play Store as an update to Google Assistant, users can install Gemini on any Wear OS-based Galaxy Watch. However, the app currently retains the Google Assistant interface and logo, primarily functioning as an AI assistant on devices running Wear OS 6. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Classic will receive the One UI 8 update soon, which will enhance their compatibility with Gemini. Until then, users will continue using Google Assistant, which, while functional, lacks some contextual understanding that Gemini offers, especially with Samsung’s stock apps like Samsung Health. One UI 8 introduces a revamped interface with dynamic layouts, the Now Bar for ongoing tasks, and additional features that elevate user experience on Galaxy Watches.
