In the competitive landscape of AI chatbots, ChatGPT remains the dominant player but is facing increasing competition from Gemini, which has more than doubled its web traffic share over the past year. As of now, ChatGPT accounts for 72.3% of generative AI traffic, while Gemini has captured 13.7%, marking its first time surpassing the 10% threshold. Since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, various companies, including Google, Meta, and Microsoft, have entered the fray to claim market share. Although ChatGPT held 86.6% of traffic share a year ago, it has gradually declined, while Gemini’s growth trajectory is notable. In the past year, Gemini consistently increased its traffic share, despite fluctuations in competitors like DeepSeek. This sustained growth positions Gemini as a significant contender in the generative AI market, raising questions about potential shifts in user preferences towards emerging AI platforms.
